On November 5, an 18-member delegation from EVRAZ Group, a leader in Russia's steel industry, visited Luoyang Lirr for an inspection tour. The guests were received by Beijing Lirr's leadership team including Chairman Zhao Wei, President Yan Hao, Assistant President Gao Song, along with Luoyang Lirr's General Manager Liu Lei and Deputy General Manager Hou Yaozhong.
Smart Manufacturing Workshop Tour: Witnessing Technical Capabilities Firsthand
The EVRAZ delegation toured Luoyang Lirr's shaped product workshop, zirconia workshop, and white fused alumina workshop, where they gained comprehensive understanding of the company's production processes, equipment operations and product quality control systems.
Liu Lei, General Manager of Luoyang Lirr, provided the delegation with an overview of the company's development history, production, and operational performance, as well as its advanced technologies and experiences in intelligent production and green manufacturing. From raw material intake to finished product dispatch, the delegation showed keen interest in the intelligent transformation of each production process. They paused to observe operations and engaged in detailed discussions with on-site technical personnel regarding equipment operational principles and productivity improvements, expressing high recognition for Beijing Lirr's technological expertise and industrial achievements in smart manufacturing.
Roundtable Discussion: Sharing Expertise and Exploring Multi-Dimensional Cooperation
Following the tour, both parties held a roundtable discussion. The EVRAZ delegation posed two key questions to Beijing Lirr's Chairman Zhao Wei regarding critical industry issues. Chairman Zhao Wei provided professional and forward-looking responses, drawing from the company's practical experience.
Regarding the motivation behind the digital and intelligent production line upgrades, Chairman Zhao Wei stated that promoting high-tech transformation is an inevitable trend in the industry's development. As a leading enterprise, Beijing Lirr has both the responsibility and the obligation to lead industry progress through technological innovation.
Beijing Lirr took the initiative within the sector to commence research and feasibility studies on digitalization and intelligent manufacturing. Although the initial investment for the upgrades was substantial, causing some companies to hesitate due to cost-benefit concerns, the long-term benefits are significant. These include enhanced production efficiency, upgraded environmental standards, and optimized comprehensive costs.
Supported by a strong technical team, the company has actively pursued innovative practices for products like magnesia-carbon bricks and "the three major items" in locations such as Haicheng and Rizhao. This has established a virtuous cycle of "technological upgrading → cost reduction → efficiency improvement," providing a replicable success model for the industry's transformation.
On the topic of development bottlenecks and strategies to overcome them, Chairman Zhao Wei emphasized that the company's rapid growth requires strong technical talent as a fundamental support. Additionally, the two parties held in-depth discussions focusing on the supply system and product specifications. The Beijing Lirr team provided detailed explanations regarding their large-scale production capacity, flexible supply chain system, and stringent quality control processes, addressing all questions raised by the EVRAZ delegation.
This visit by the EVRAZ delegation represents a significant opportunity for deepening Sino-Russian cooperation in metallurgical technology, supply chains, and market development.
